APP 300G

Overview

This course provides complete application training for the SEL-300G Generator Relay, an extremely flexible protective relay used worldwide for protection and monitoring of all sizes of synchronous generators.

Course topics include:

  • Comprehensive generator protection, including numerous current, voltage, frequency, distance, and out-of-step elements
  • Optional current differential elements with magnitude and phase shift compensation for encompassing the generator step-up transformer within the zone of protection
  • Optional individual phase-overcurrent elements for split-phase differential protection applications
  • Overexcitation elements
  • Directional power elements
  • Stator ground protection
  • Metering and reporting functions

What You Will Learn

Attendees (in groups of two) will gain hands-on experience in communicating, setting, metering, monitoring, retrieving event reports, and performing control functions, working directly with an SEL-300G Generator Relay.

At the conclusion of this course, students can:

  • Apply the SEL-300G Relay protection, monitoring, and control features
  • Communicate with the relay through front-panel controls and serial ports
  • Calculate and enter settings for the relay
  • Determine data requirements for relay settings and RTDs
  • Retrieve data from the relay using HyperTerminal
  • Analyze fault records and relay element response, using SEL-5601 and other software programs
  • Analyze Sequential Events Recorder (SER) reports

Course Fee

$650.00 (two-day course). Includes CBT 101 Pre-Course Training CD, course notebook, and certificate of completion.

Course Hours

Classes are conducted from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day. Complimentary lunch and breaks are provided. Allow additional time prior to course for CBT 101 completion.
